HOPE FOR CROATIA was founded as the HOPE FOR LIFE ministry in 2000 by Vlado Hoblaj and a team of enthusiastic believers excited by the discovery of Christ-centered counseling, in partnership with Grace Ministries Int. from Atlanta, GA (www.gmint.org). Recognizing how their influence and programs were expanding into numerous aspects of life and ministry across the country, the team made the strategic decision to transition the name to HOPE FOR CROATIA.

Vladimir Hoblaj is the founder of HOPE FOR CROATIA and the driving force behind all its ministry branches. Vlado spent much of his youth battling depression, which stemmed from his intense search for the meaning of life. Music was his only hope until his life was profoundly transformed by accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1987. Following his conversion, Vlado became involved in Christian ministry, planting a church and launching a Christian music band.
Concurrent with this, he and his wife Marina opened their home and their hearts to adopting six children while at the same time leading the small family business. Another pivotal moment came in 1997 when he connected with Grace Ministries International (GMI) in Atlanta, GA, which led him to a deeper truth: the experience of Jesus as his very Life.
The heart of this new chapter was mastering Christ-centered counseling, which ultimately brought Vlado victory over depression. These profound insights and skills motivated him to establish the HOPE FOR LIFE Ministries in 2000 and his newfound joy also led him to establish a grand-scale Christian theater in 2007.
Another turning point in the life of Vlado and Marina was when they closed their business in 2009 and took a step of faith to enter the full-time ministry. A great part of that was fostering more than 30 children. In 2021 Vlado wrote his first book, “What to Do When Our Foundation is Shaking,” to support people who suffered from the great earthquakes in Croatia, or from any life crisis. Eventually, the Lord utilized Vlado’s original passion for music to release four of the planned seven self-titled albums. His ultimate longing is to publish “The Musical Book of Divine Inspiration,” a collection of evangelistic devotionals illustrated by his own songs.
